DocuSign is teaming up with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and challenging you to help solve a unique problem. In order to continue their important work certifying sustainably managed forests for the paper products we all use, FSC needs help taking their auditing and certification processes digital and remote for today’s world.

Build an application that helps in remote forest assessment, qualification, or auditing using the DocuSign eSignature API and FSC data. If you build for FSC, they can use your app right away!

Got your own nonprofit in mind that you think also needs help taking their signature and other processes digital to keep them going right now? You are welcome to think of another nonprofit use case that can benefit from the DocuSign eSignatures API and submit to the Greater Good category.

Bonus Challenge: Work with other teams to merge apps for all three FSC challenges into one complete, seamless app for an extra Collaboration prize.

Submit your merged, complete application as a group to compete for the bonus prize. Each team can also submit your independent apps as standalone submissions to compete for the category prizes.

Requirements

Choose at least one category to build (or update) an open-source application using DocuSign’s eSignature API and, if applicable, FSC data.

  • Pre-Assessment App:
This app should allow companies to self-assess whether they would qualify for FSC certification. This app must use FSC data.
  • Virtual Audit Qualification App:
This app should use FSC-defined criteria and Esri geocoding data to help a company verify whether they can move forward with a virtual audit. This app must use FSC data.
  • Virtual Audit App:
This app should use technology to enable virtual site visits, interviews, and document verification, as well as issuing the official certificate. This app must use the Forest Stewardship Council data.
  • App for the Greater Good:
Create an app for a nonprofit of your choice that helps them take their processes digital and remote using DocuSign APIs.

Submit the following assets:

  1. A 3-minute demo video (hosted on YouTube, Facebook Video, Vimeo, or Youku). Your video should include a demo of your working application via a step-by-step visual demo.
  2. A way to access your working application for judging and testing by providing a URL to the publicly visible code repository, including an applicable open source license. https://opensource.org/licenses
